Yarraville
Formboss steel rings used as raised garden beds create strong visual structure throughout the space. Bluestone steppers set within compacted gravel form a clean, functional pathway — a contemporary, easy-care backyard with architectural finish and excellent drainage.
Yarraville
Large-format bluestone steppers set within lush turf guide movement directly to a feature barrel sauna. A simple, low-maintenance layout with open lawn and minimal planting — modern and refined, suited for both relaxation and everyday use.
Yarraville (3013) is one of our most active service areas. We've completed paving, decking, steel edging, retaining walls and full landscape builds throughout the suburb and surrounding areas including Seddon and Kingsville. Based in nearby Newport, we know the local soil types, what council expects on permits, and what works in these terrace and post-war block sizes.
Yarraville has a strong creative and community character, and the homes reflect it. The suburb is predominantly terrace houses and post-war bungalows on compact lots — which means outdoor space is valuable and needs to work hard. A 6m x 4m rear courtyard in Yarraville isn't a limitation, it's a design brief.
Steel edging is one of our most-used materials in Yarraville. FormBoss steel rings and garden bed edging create clean, defined structure in small spaces without eating into the footprint — and they read as considered design rather than afterthought. Gravel pathways, bluestone steppers, and groundcover integration are consistently popular here: low maintenance, visually strong, and suited to the compact courtyard format.
The post-war blocks in Yarraville also tend to have drainage challenges. Melbourne's clay-heavy soils don't drain freely, and in compact backyards this can quickly become a problem without proper grading and agricultural drain installation. We build drainage into every hardscape project as standard — not as an optional extra.
Yarraville homeowners typically want something considered and distinctive rather than generic paving and grass. The projects above are a good example of what we do here: structured, architectural, and low maintenance. We've also completed retaining walls, deck builds, and full garden redesigns throughout Yarraville, Seddon, and Kingsville.
Yes — Yarraville is one of our most active areas. We're based in nearby Newport and have completed multiple projects throughout Yarraville, Seddon, and Kingsville. We know the block sizes, soil conditions, and local council requirements well.
Compact courtyards respond well to considered structure — steel-edged garden beds, gravel or decomposed granite pathways, bluestone steppers, and a single feature tree or planted element to anchor the space. We design for the actual dimensions of the block rather than scaling down a large-garden template. A well-executed small space can be just as impactful as a large one.
Yes, and it's one of the most common issues we encounter in inner-west Melbourne. Clay soils and compact blocks with limited runoff paths can cause significant drainage problems. We integrate proper drainage — correct grading, agricultural pipe, and drainage aggregate — into every hardscape build. It's not an optional extra, it's standard.
